Homing Inc.

A community-driven initiative to create
affordable, secure living in the Columbia Valley, B.C.

Creating affordability,
community, and lasting change.

Homing Inc. is a not-for-profit made up of everyday humans.

We're individuals, families, and community members of the Columbia Valley who know the challenges of securing affordable living.

We believe that everyone should have the opportunity to

contribute, belong, and grow

So we're spearheading a solution:
A Community Land Trust.

What is a land trust?

"Community land trusts acquire and steward land for the benefit of local communities."

– Canadian Network of Community Land Trusts

Our land trust project.

Our project aims to secure land for the purpose of perpetual affordablity.

What does that mean?

Well, Community Land Trusts (or CLTs) remove land from the speculative market and make it affordable — forever.

Through community investments,  donations, and grants, we'll acquire land as a not-for-profit, and lease it to the community at far less than market rate.

CLTs separate land and asset ownership. Once a lease is approved, community members can build, move, or, in later stages, purchase a home on the land while retaining 100% of the asset's value .

(AKA – your ticket to alternative styles of housing!)

Couple (2)
Individual (1)

Within 20kms (roughly 20 minutes)
Within 30 kms (roughly 30 minutes)
Within 50 kms (up to 1 hour away)

5+ acres
What infrastructure would you require to consider signing a lease?
Totally raw land with a centralized toilet, water filling and washing facility is fine for me
I would require very basic service hookups (power, but no water or septic at lease site)
I would require full services (water, power, septic, gravel driveway, fully prepped site)
I wouldn’t move immediately, but I would build a house in the first 2 years
I would only benefit from a land lease and the purchase of a finished home at the same time

Please read the following information to answer the next question.
